litres of purified drinking water delivered through 20-litre access and packaged programmes
Manufacturing access in Turkana
Everyday essentials belong everywhere.
Lifta builds local systems for safe water, circular materials and personal hygiene—so frontier communities are not priced out by distance.
The work, in numbers
Since operations beganof plastic collected and recycled since November 2025—about 5 million bottles
solar capacity powering longer, more reliable local production
direct jobs created across water, recycling and operations
Safe water, designed for everyday use
Access is more than a bottle of water.
Our 20-litre water access programme gives participating community members a reusable Lifta bottle and a handheld pump at no cost. Families can then refill safely, locally and affordably—reducing the cost and waste of disposable alternatives.
From our Kakuma water facility, Lifta supplies purified water through refill stations, 20-litre delivery and packaged formats. The model is built to reach the communities conventional supply chains leave behind.
Support water accessHow the access programme works
Join
Participating members receive a reusable 20-litre bottle and pump.
Refill
Water is purified locally and made available through our access network.
Reuse
One durable container supports lower-cost, lower-waste daily access.
Circular materials
Waste is not a frontier community’s final burden.
We collect PET through local community networks, sort it in Kakuma and process it into usable recycled material. This keeps plastic in the local economy and builds the foundation for more manufacturing in Turkana.

Clean energy for productive hours
Industry should not wait for the town to sleep.
In Kakuma’s diesel-powered grid, Lifta once had to run production mainly from 10 pm to 6 am. Our 450 kWp solar system and 500 kWh battery storage are changing that—supporting at least 14 hours of daily operations and strengthening the economics of local manufacturing.
